This small hotel is located on the Greek island of Kythira, which is characterized by an architecture that is a unique blend of Aegean and Venetian culture.
The existing buildings, built with materials present on site (earth and stone), were in a state of ruin and chaos.
The unevenness of the terrain and the modifications made over time have forced us to carry out a thorough analysis to understand the hierarchies of the spaces and the relationships between interior and exterior.
We wanted to return these buildings to their essence of sober architecture, with simple forms, without ornaments.
The project plays with few materials used with rigor and simplicity, both formally and constructively.
The new planimetric organization develops according to horizontal and vertical axes that impose a new order on the exterior spaces.
Courtyards like successive terraces lead us from street level to a long and narrow swimming pool, on a journey that allows us to gradually discover the architecture and the landscape.
