This renovation project of a duplex in a building dating from the 1970s in Barcelona’s San Gervasi district aims to transform a flat with typical rooms distributed along a long corridor into something different.
Superfluous elements are eliminated, spatial divisions are reduced to a minimum, and the dwelling is connected to its two terraces and its views.
The doors are sliding panels that reach up to the ceiling and allow visuals to be opened and closed: mobile walls that can be closed at specific times, but without renouncing an open, luminous, ample space.
The public area, at double height, consists of a steel kitchen opening onto the dining room, a white square table and a sofa: inside and outside are connected thanks to the large windows overlooking the terrace with a view of the mountains.
The bedrooms, on the other hand, open onto the other terrace overlooking the sea.
The floors are covered with a single material, the walls are white and the pillars are made of exposed concrete.
The main floor is connected to the ground floor through a newly built staircase that faces the double height..
In turn, the ground floor is visually connected to the living room through glazed openings.
